Am I “Going Through” Something?

June 1, 2006

Got side tracked on what I heard God tell me this morning. “Get ready, get dressed and go out.”. “But where should I go?” I responded to “the thought”. “Just walk” is what I heard. I didn’t question the “thought” anymore. Once I actually started to ‘look’ for God a few years ago I learned that the “thought” was actually the way that God spoke to me. Yes I know that sounds a little strange, especially to those that used to know me between 1997 and 2004.

It would be difficult for me to put together all of the bits and pieces of what I thought and did throughout my life. However the seven years that I was the Executive Director of Free Bytes are a little easier for me. I met a lot of people during that time, and a lot of people got to know me. At least what I wanted them to get to know about me. I think the primary impression others would get from me at that time was that I was a guy who passionately believed in recycling and technology. I could say a lot more things about that, words like; humanitarian, “good guy”, a hard worker, etc. But I think the little I’ve just said will sum it up quite well.

The Promise That Changed Me

June 2, 2005

Well, I got on a bit of a tangent with my last entry so I thought I would go in the direction that I originally intended for this entry. Where I was originally going to go was that there are many reasons to be a Christian however many of these reasons are contrary to the teachings of Christianity.

If you will look throughout the scripture you will see the promises of Jesus; most of which are in the books known as the gospels. Gospel is a word that simply means “Good News”. And the “Good News” was simply that Jesus Christ would take away the sins of the world.

If you have truly accepted the good news of Jesus Christ you will see that your life has completely changed. ‘Not’ that you are now a “good person” because the Lord’s promise does not make “good people”. The Lord’s promise brings about a complete life change where you are no longer living your life for yourself, but instead for God. It’s the difference between waking up and saying to yourself “Hmm I’m hungry, I wonder what I want to eat this morning.” and “Hmm, I wonder if the Lord wants me to eat this morning.”.

Someone might argue, “… of course the Lord wants you to eat…”, but that is simply not true; there are times that the Lord wants you to fast!
